Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DialerX (“we”, “us”, “our”) processes personal data when you use our Android application distributed via Google Play. It is designed to meet transparency requirements under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and expectations for Google Play listings (including Data safety disclosures).
1. Scope and Google Play
This policy applies to the DialerX mobile app. If you obtained the app from Google Play, Google LLC (or its affiliates) also processes certain data as a separate controller or processor under Google’s policies. See Google Privacy Policy and Google Play Terms of Service. You must provide the public URL of this policy in the Play Console under App content → Privacy policy.
2. Summary
DialerX operates primarily on your device. For the current version described here, we do not operate backend servers that collect your contacts, call logs, or call audio for our own analytics, advertising, or resale. Processing occurs locally on your phone and through Android system APIs (telephony, contacts, blocked numbers, notifications), except when you deliberately use features that involve other apps or the network (for example opening a link in a browser or sharing text).
3. Categories of personal data
Depending on permissions and features, the app may process:
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Phone & calls | Numbers, call state, placing/answering/ending calls | Dialer and in-call experience |
| Call log | Numbers, time, duration, type (as exposed by the device) | Recents and history |
| Contacts | Names, numbers, thumbnails | Caller ID, list, favorites, speed dial, edits |
| SMS-related | Content you send via quick actions | Only when you initiate send/SMS flows |
| Audio / microphone | In-call routing (mute, speaker) | Live calls via the system; not for uploading call recordings |
| Camera | Torch/LED only (optional alert) | No photo/video capture for that feature |
| Notifications | Call status UI data | Ongoing call notifications |
| Blocked numbers | Numbers you block | System blocked list where supported |
| Notes & preferences | Text you type, toggles, favorites, speed-dial mapping | Stored locally in app data |
4. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract / steps prior to contract: Providing the dialer and related features you request when you install and use the app.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): Where Android requires explicit permission (runtime permissions), you grant or deny consent via the system dialogs. You may withdraw consent at any time in device settings; some features may then be unavailable.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Keeping the app secure, maintaining compatibility, and complying with law, where not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation: Where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR in the manner described in this policy.
5. Storage, retention, and location
Most data processed by DialerX stays on your device until you delete it (for example via Settings → Apps → DialerX → Clear storage or uninstalling). Call logs and contacts read from the system remain governed by Android until you delete them through system or app actions. We do not intend to transfer this data to our own servers in the current app version; if that changes, we will update this policy and Play Data safety before release.
If you use cloud backup (Google/Android backup), copies may be stored under your Google or device backup settings—outside our direct control.
6. Recipients and processors
- Google Play & Google Android services: Distribution, updates, and platform services per Google’s terms and policies.
- Mobile network operators & carriers: Calls and SMS are handled by your carrier under their policies.
- Other apps: When you share content or open links, the receiving app processes data under its own policy.
We do not sell your personal information as defined under applicable U.S. state laws (for example CPRA categories) in the current version of the app.
7. International transfers
Because processing is device-local, cross-border transfers to us as controller are not a core part of the current design. If you contact us by email, messages may be processed in your region or where our email provider operates. If we later use processors outside the EEA/UK, we will ensure appropriate safeguards (for example Standard Contractual Clauses) where required and document them here.
8. Your rights (EU / EEA / UK)
Subject to conditions and exemptions in applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Access personal data we hold about you (limited for purely local processing—you primarily exercise this on-device);
- Rectification of inaccurate data;
- Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) where applicable;
- Restriction of processing;
- Data portability where processing is based on consent or contract and technically feasible;
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based, without affecting prior lawful processing;
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
For EU/EEA data protection authorities, see the EDPB list of authorities. For the UK, contact the ICO.
To exercise rights against us as developer, email embeepay141@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law (typically one month under GDPR, extendable in complex cases). You may need to verify your identity.
9. California and other U.S. states (summary)
Residents of certain U.S. states may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing of personal information. This app version does not sell personal information and does not use targeted advertising SDKs as described in our dependencies; much processing is local. For requests, use the same contact email. We will not discriminate for exercising privacy rights where prohibited by law.
10. Children
DialerX is a general-purpose communications utility and is not directed at children under 13 (U.S.) or under the digital consent age in your EU member state (often 16 for information society services without parental consent). If you believe a child has provided information to us directly (for example via email), contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Security
We rely on Android’s application sandbox, permission model, and your device security (OS updates, screen lock). No storage or device is perfectly secure. You are responsible for securing your device and accounts.
12. Permissions
The app may declare or request permissions including phone, call log, contacts, microphone, camera (torch), SMS, notifications, and foreground service, as needed for stated features. Manage them in Settings → Apps → DialerX → Permissions.
13. Default dialer and InCallService
If you set DialerX as the default phone app or use its in-call UI, Android routes call events to the app. That processing is necessary to provide the service you chose.
14. Data we do not intend to collect (current version)
- No sale of personal data.
- No in-app advertising analytics SDKs in the published dependency set described at release.
- Not designed as a server-backed call recorder.
If we add analytics, crash reporting, cloud sync, or ads, we will update this policy and Play Console Data safety before distribution.
15. Changes
We may update this policy for legal, technical, or product reasons. We will post the new version with an updated effective date. Where required (for example material changes to GDPR processing), we will seek additional consent or give notice as applicable law requires. Continued use after notice may constitute acceptance where permitted by law.
16. Contact & supervisory authority
Questions about this policy: embeepay141@gmail.com.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK and believe we have infringed applicable data protection law, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority in addition to contacting us.
