Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the FoodScan mobile application ("App"), a food nutrition tracking tool that helps you monitor dietary data including calories, fiber, fat, sugar, protein, and other nutritional values.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the App.

We want to be crystal clear: we do not collect any of the following:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details
• Your account credentials or login information
• Your location, GPS data, or IP address
• Food scans, nutritional logs, or dietary history
• Calorie, fiber, fat, sugar, or protein data you track
• Health profile data (age, weight, health goals)

There is no user account system, no sign-up, and no login required to use the App.

The App may store nutritional scan results, preferences, and dietary logs locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

• All nutritional data is saved in your device's local storage
• Data is only accessible by you, via the App
• Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored data
• No cloud sync or backup is performed by us

If your device operating system (iOS or Android) performs automatic backups of app data, that is governed by Apple's or Google's respective privacy policies, not ours.

The App uses AI-powered features to analyze food items and provide nutritional information. Here is how AI is used within the App:

• Your images are transmitted securely via encrypted HTTPS connections
• All AI processing is handled by our own server-side systems
• We do not send your data to third-party AI providers for inference or content generation
• If cloud providers are used, they act only as hosting/infrastructure providers for our systems
• AI-generated results are approximations and should not replace professional dietary advice
• Processed results may be stored locally on your device after generation

The App is supported by third-party advertising. Advertisements may be displayed while using the App. Please read the following carefully:

Advertising networks used in the App may collect:

• Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS / GAID on Android) — used solely for ad delivery
• General device type and operating system version
• Approximate location (country/region level) for regional ad targeting
• Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks) for ad performance measurement

We do not share any nutritional, health, or personal data with advertisers. Ad networks operate independently of the App's core functionality.

You may opt out of interest-based advertising at any time through your device settings: iOS — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android — Settings → Privacy → Ads.

We use Firebase services by Google to improve the App's performance and reliability:

• Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymized app usage statistics (e.g., screen views, feature usage) to help us understand how users interact with the App
• Firebase Crashlytics: Collects technical crash reports and diagnostic data when the App encounters errors, including device type, OS version, and stack traces

You can opt out of analytics collection through your device settings or by disabling analytics in the App settings. Firebase data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), residents of the European Union and European Economic Area have the following rights with respect to personal data:

With regard to third-party advertising, where consent is required under GDPR, the ad network will request your consent before collecting any device-level identifiers. You may withdraw consent at any time via your device's advertising settings.

If you believe your GDPR rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national Data Protection Authority (DPA).

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have specific rights regarding personal information:

• Right to Know: You may request disclosure of what personal information is collected, used, disclosed, or sold about you.
• Right to Delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you.
• Right to Opt-Out: You may opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information to third parties.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
• Right to Correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Data: You may limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: Since we do not sell or share personal information, no opt-out mechanism is required from us. To limit ad-related data collection, use your device's built-in privacy controls.

California residents may contact us to exercise any of the above rights. We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days as required by law.

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Since the App does not collect any personal data at all, no personal data from children is collected. However, if you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information (for example, through ad interactions), please contact the relevant advertising network directly.

Parental controls are available on both iOS and Android to restrict ad tracking and app usage for minors.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality, applicable laws, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the policy within the App.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
